High speed slides
by Carl Peterson

Rapid sequences
of photos tell
an idea or story.

How many frames do you need
to know what happening?

We quickly compare
the patterns of change
with earlier life experiences.

The mind acts quickly
to check the accuracy
of its assessments
and conclusions.

This is not new.

Early movies were a drum of cards
that grouped a series of pictures
to give the appearance of movement.

After years of watching
movies and commercials
we easily understand and accept
the jumps between illustrations.

We understand that movement
has taken place
without seeing all the rest
of the frames.

Memory picture captions
set the stage.

Expectancy

We use our personal radar
to lead us to the target.

Set up expectancy.

The brain is accustomed
to receiving information
and acting on it.

The mind can carry a trigger
to related and unrelated areas.

Triggers heighten awareness.

The mind
1.
collects isolated parts.

2.
fills in the gaps.

A picture can trigger
thoughts and inner speech.
