Much of this group
portrays North America
as it was in the 17th
and 18th century.
Note:
Life then,
Life now.
Far less than 10 percent
of our land has been changed
by buildings and overpasses
higher than tree level.
Beautiful sunsets, big hills,
big mountains, most lakes, and rivers
are essentially the same
as long ago.
In the 17th and 18th century
some of our coastlines were dotted
with the board and siding houses
of the time.
Most old structures are gone.
They have been replaced
with newer board and siding houses.
The newer houses don't look
much different from a distance.
The efficient shapes of small boats
are today more similar than different.
Yes, marinas are larger today.
Yes, clothing is slightly different.
It still covers the essential parts.
Grave sites are much the same
as yesterday.
There are many more.
-------------
To make this grouping
I deleted about one hundred
of 2000 pictures
shot in the first half of 2001.
Modern signs are left in
to tell you where you are.
Try not to notice cars
and better roads
that may still be included
with historical pictures.
